Olympia, WA – Committee chairs in both the house and senate are refusing to schedule hearings on bipartisan home growing bills! Senator Karen Keiser (D-33rd) said the federal government will crackdown on Washington home grows; she won’t hear SB6482 to talk about that claim in the Labor & Commerce Committee. Multiple sources have suggested Governor Jay Inslee feels the same way…

Rep. Kristine Lytton (D-40th) said the Finance committee is too busy to hear HB2559, even though the house has already passed a capital budget. Each suggested trying again next year. (Others said this last year, too.)

Sen. Keiser & Rep. Lytton believe they’ll lose more time hearing home grow bills than ignoring them.

Make it take more time to ignore home grow.

Please call their offices, be nice to their staff (ignoring us wasn’t their idea) but tell them you want them to schedule a hearing on their committee’s  home grow bill. Calling or in-person visits to their offices are best because it’s tougher to ignore than emails, of which legislators get a ton.

Again, no need to be rude to staff aides, but the more calls they get, and the more time staff spends dismissing people who want this done, the less ignoring home grow makes sense. If you live, work, or shop in their district, tell staff you’re a constituent. If not, say you’re a concerned citizen. This effects Art. 1, Section 7 of Washingtonian’s constitutional rights!

Below is a description of what district they represent, their office address at the capital and phone number. Next, the bill # & committee it’s in to remind staff.
