Hemp Tshirt, Men’s, 2017, Kick Down For T

The 2017 Seattle HEMPFEST men’s tshirt features the digital skill of artist Jeremy Jewell, combined with the custom lettering mastery of Scott McDougall, who is known for his Grateful Dead album covers. Jewell took McDougall’s Seattle HEMPFEST lettering from the 1998 Art Chantry/Jamie Sheehan poster and breathed new life into the iconic logo image with this marine colored glimpse of the festival’s ambient beauty.

This year more than ever, we could use your support! We closed two stages and merged one of them with another taking out a little under a third of our park system. Donations have been down the last few years and that is what our non-profit relies upon to throw down this kick-ass event for you every year. Without you, Seattle HEMPFEST® cannot happen. Please Kick Down For The Cause if you want us to continue bringing you this awesome Protestival year after year.

You can also make donations during our non-festival season – every penny helps: https://www.hempfest.org/shop-hempfest-central/donate-now/

Tshirt, 1994, 7-Year Bitch (Cotton, Olive)

This iconic Hempfest® t-shirt, from the 1994 event at Gasworks Park, is the first of many by the award winning art team of Jamie Sheehan and Art Chantry. It’s a very limited second edition collector image that was created for the 1994 Seattle Hempfest®, and was originally printed on both hemp paper and hemp burlap as a poster. Hempfest’s® art director at the time, Jamie Sheehan, teamed up with punk art poster icon Art Chantry to make this art design award winning poster image, one of which hangs in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, in Cleveland Ohio. Headlining the 1994 Hempfest® was the bombastic all female Seattle punk band, 7 Year Bitch, and the gigantic mosh pit and stage-diving at that year’s 15,000 person event are still talked about in punk rock circles today.  Sheehan and Chantry continued to collaborate on several more award winning Seattle Hempfest® t-shirts and posters.

This design won the 1994 Art Director’s Guild Award for Excellence in Design, and a Summit International Award from the same year. The all-female Seattle punk band, 7 Year Bitch, headlined that year!
